Framing note
There is no dominant, standalone "Certified Propulsion Engineer" credential analogous to a Splunk or AWS certification — propulsion knowledge is assessed within GATE AE (this academy's actual gating exam, at a notably lower weighting than aerodynamics or flight mechanics) and demonstrated through engine-cycle and CFD simulation tool proficiency, not through a dedicated propulsion certification market.

Why Propulsion Specifically Carries Less Exam Weight Than Aerodynamics
This isn't an oversight — GATE AE's weighting reflects that aerodynamics and flight mechanics are broader, more foundational subject areas with more distinct sub-topics to test, while propulsion (per the current syllabus) is scoped more narrowly around engine cycles and thrust/Isp calculations, much of which this guide's own Overview, Fundamentals, Intermediate, and Advanced material covers directly. A lower weighting doesn't mean lower real-world importance — propulsion is a distinct, well-paid specialization in the aerospace industry — it specifically means less relative time should go toward it during GATE AE exam preparation compared to the higher-weighted sections.
