What is SSC CGL?
SSC CGL (Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level) is one of India's largest central government recruitment exams. It recruits for Group B and Group C posts across various central government ministries and departments.
Eligibility and Posts
ELIGIBILITY:
Education: bachelor's degree in any discipline from recognized university
Age: 18-32 (varies by post)
Group B: up to 30 years
Group C: 18-27 years
Age relaxation: +3 years OBC | +5 years SC/ST | +10 years PwD

Inspector (Income Tax): field work, surveys, assessments
Inspector (Central Excise): GST department
Inspector (Preventive Officer): customs

Auditor: AG offices, CGDA, CAG
Accountant: various ministries
JOB PROFILE:
Office-based work: files, noting and drafting, correspondence
Field work (for Inspector posts): raids, surveys, investigations
All posts: central government pay scale + allowances
PAY SCALE (approximately):
Group B Gazetted: Rs.9,300-34,800 + Grade Pay 4,800 (7th CPC revised)
Group B Non-Gazetted: Rs.9,300-34,800 + Grade Pay 4,200-4,600
Actual take-home: Rs.40,000-70,000 depending on posting and post
