Preparation Strategy

UPSC + State = Efficient Preparation

70% of the syllabus overlaps with UPSC Civil Services. Preparing for UPSC gives a strong foundation for State PSC exams.

State-specific additions (30%):

1.State history and culture (1–2 books specific to your state)
2.State geography (atlases and official data)
3.State government schemes (official website + newspapers)
4.State language paper (practice writing, comprehension, grammar)

Resources:

Previous 10 years question papers (your state PSC website)
State government official website (for schemes, policies)
State-specific books published by local publishers
National newspapers + 1 state/regional newspaper

Key difference from UPSC Mains: State PSC mains tests more state-specific knowledge. Generic UPSC answers about national schemes need to be supplemented with state implementation details.
