What These Exams Actually Test (Different From a Coding Exam)
Unlike CPC/CCS, which test code selection, CDI certifications test judgment about documentation sufficiency and query construction:
•Recognizing when documentation does or doesn't support a specific, codeable diagnosis
•Constructing compliant, non-leading physician queries (open-ended or multiple-choice format, not a query that only offers the diagnosis you suspect)
•Applying clinical knowledge (CCDS especially) to judge whether documented signs/symptoms are consistent with a suspected but undocumented condition
•Understanding how documentation gaps cascade into DRG/PDGM/quality-metric consequences — not just "this code is wrong" but "this is why it matters downstream"

What makes a diagnosis codeable vs. not yet codeable
Recognizing unspecified/vague documentation vs. genuinely specific documentation
QUERY CONSTRUCTION:
