Why This Section Exists Separately

Reasoning Ability is the single highest-weightage section in banking Mains exams (puzzles alone can carry 15–20 questions), and it's the section where preparation quality β€” not raw intelligence β€” determines speed. Pattern recognition built through repetition is the entire game.

Analogy β€” Think of a seating puzzle like assembling a jigsaw puzzle by placing the most-constrained pieces first, not working through clues in the order given. A clue like "X sits immediately left of Y" pins down a relationship immediately; a clue like "X likes red" pins down nothing about position at all. Solving the highly-constraining clues first narrows the possibilities fast β€” starting with a vague clue leaves too many arrangements open and wastes time re-checking them later.

Prelims vs Mains Difference

Prelims reasoning is largely standalone, moderate-difficulty puzzles and direct syllogism/coding questions.
