NEET Chemistry Certification Guide
NEET Chemistry Overview
Chemistry in NEET carries 180 marks (45 questions × 4 marks). It is split into Physical Chemistry (~25%), Organic Chemistry (~35%), and Inorganic Chemistry (~40% — NEET has higher inorganic weightage than JEE).

PHYSICAL CHEMISTRY (class 11 + 12):
Basic Concepts: mole concept, stoichiometry, empirical/molecular formula
Atomic Structure: Bohr model, quantum numbers, electronic configuration
Chemical Bonding: ionic, covalent, VSEPR, hybridisation, MO theory
States of Matter: ideal gas laws (PV=nRT), kinetic theory, real gases
Thermodynamics: enthalpy, entropy, Gibbs energy, spontaneity
Equilibrium: Kc, Kp, Le Chatelier, acid-base equilibrium, buffer
Redox Reactions: oxidation states, balancing by oxidation number method
Electrochemistry: EMF, Nernst equation, Faraday's laws, corrosion
Chemical Kinetics: rate laws, order, molecularity, Arrhenius equation
Solutions: colligative properties, Henry's law, vapour pressure
Surface Chemistry: adsorption, catalysis, colloids, emulsions
INORGANIC CHEMISTRY (heavy in NEET):
Classification of Elements: periodic trends, blocks
Hydrogen: position in periodic table, isotopes, water, H₂O₂
s-block: Li, Na, K, Mg, Ca, Ba — properties, compounds, anomalous behaviour
p-block (Class 11): Groups 13-14 — boron family, carbon family
p-block (Class 12): Groups 15-18 — N, P, O, S, Halogens, Noble gases
d-block: transition metals, alloys, potassium dichromate, permanganate
f-block: lanthanides and actinides (general properties only)
Coordination Compounds: nomenclature, bonding theories, isomerism
Metallurgy: ore concentration, extraction, purification methods
ORGANIC CHEMISTRY:
Basic Principles: IUPAC naming, isomerism, electronic effects
Hydrocarbons: alkanes (combustion, halogenation), alkenes (addition), alkynes
Environmental Chemistry: types of pollution, smog, acid rain
Haloalkanes and Haloarenes: SN1, SN2, elimination
Alcohols, Phenols, Ethers: reactions and distinctions
Aldehydes and Ketones: nucleophilic addition, oxidation, reduction
Carboxylic Acids: acidity, reactions, derivatives
Amines: basicity, reactions, Diazonium salts
